Zuid | $1.5 million (1.32 million euros)

A renovated three-bedroom townhouse with a garden

This four-story, 19th-century townhouse is in Antwerp’s bustling Zuid neighborhood, close to the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp, the Rubenshuis museum and the city’s main public square, Marnixplaats. The building was recently renovated in a way that modernized the interior but kept many of its period features.

Antwerp, a riverside city in northern Belgium, is the nation’s second largest metro area, after Brussels. Zuid offers varied architectural styles, including Art Nouveau and contemporary designs. The Scheldt River, bordered by a park, dock and boardwalk, runs north of this district.

Brussels Airport is about 30 miles south, and Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport is less than two hours north by car or train.

Size: 3,229 square feet

Price per square foot: $477

Indoors: This 1899 townhouse, last renovated in 2023, has shared living spaces on the ground floor, bedrooms on three floors above and a basement for storage. Throughout, grand windows with black sills give a clean look. Interior windows also let sunlight pour in. The ground floor has two sitting rooms, one of which has a fireplace. The eat-in kitchen, with an island and open shelving, steps out to the garden through floor-to-ceiling accordion glass doors. A winding staircase ascends to the primary bedroom, which has a private terrace, a dressing room and ample built-in storage.

The third floor holds a bedroom and bathroom, while the fourth floor has an en suite bedroom with cathedral ceilings, exposed beams and a brick wall. (The third-floor bedroom could be split into two bedrooms, the listing agent said.)

Most of the floors are pale oak. The house has smart-home automation technology as well as space for bike storage in the foyer.

Outdoor space: The property has a roughly 320-square-foot garden. A street-facing wrought-iron balcony and a private terrace are off the primary bedroom.

Costs: Annual property taxes total around $1,160 (1,000 euros).

Rumst | $1.5 million (1.33 million euros)

A three-bedroom farm in the countryside

This one-acre farm, with sections built around 1850 and 1930, has space for entertaining, working and dwelling. With a cobblestone driveway and front patio, dormer windows and tile roof, it has a rustic, cozy look, but the interior is brimming with modern amenities, including casted floors and a minimalist two-way fireplace.

Rumst, which is in Antwerp province, is a rural municipality with several towns about 10 miles south of Antwerp's center. With rivers, campgrounds and hiking trails, the area offers a peaceful retreat between Brussels and Antwerp in Flanders, Belgium's Flemish region. Just west of Rumst, an annual electronic music festival called Tomorrowland takes place in the appropriately named town of Boom.

Size: 4,036 square feet (not including 1,100 square feet of storage space)

Price per square foot: $476

Indoors: The ground floor has a spacious semi-open living room and dining room, with a kitchen to one side. The living room has a sofa, armchairs and a sleek, two-sided fireplace. On the other side, the fireplace warms an open area that leads to the dining room and a hallway. The kitchen has a farmhouse sink, open shelves, gray cabinets and a Smeg oven and stove.

Upstairs, there are two bedrooms and one bathroom. The primary bedroom's standout feature is its lofted ceiling, with white wooden beams and dormer windows. It has ample space for leisure or work and shares a bathroom with the guest bedroom.

A separate area on the ground floor, built around 1850, is now set up as an office, with a conference table and desks. White walls and cathedral ceilings lend charm to this work space.

Outdoor space: An al fresco dining table is close to the living room. The former farm, on about an acre, has oak and American sweet gum trees. A parking area at one end of the property has space for several cars.

Costs: Annual property tax totals $2,190 (1,877 euros).

Central Antwerp | $1.5 million (1.3 million euros)

A midcentury loft with a rooftop garden

This two-bedroom, two-bath apartment is in a former industrial warehouse that was built in the early 1960s and renovated in 2009. Tall windows, a raised ceiling with exposed concrete beams and high-contrast colors make the space look elegant and clean. The home’s outdoor zones add whimsy.

The building is in the heart of Antwerp, near the central train station, the city zoo, a chocolate museum, streets lined with restaurants and the historic center.

Size: 2,734 square feet (not including around 1,100 square feet of storage space)

Price per square foot: $548

Indoors: An elevator leads to the sixth floor and opens to the common living areas of this two-bedroom residence. Past the foyer, the open kitchen, dining room and living room form an L shape. Floor-to-ceiling windows line the living room. At the other end, the kitchen has a marble island with counter seating, stainless steel fixtures and Miele appliances. Between the kitchen and living area, the dining area has a contemporary gas fireplace. The black ceiling beams and accent walls offer a stark tonal contrast to the abundant windows. The primary suite has a walk-in closet and a glass enclosed rainwater shower. An en suite flex room on this floor can be used as a bedroom, library, study or TV room.

Upstairs, a guest bedroom offers access to the rooftop garden and uses a hall bathroom. There is also a summer kitchen, an office and a spare room that could be a third bedroom. The home comes with a Sonos sound system and includes basement storage.

Outdoor space: The condo has an 1,850-square-foot, lushly landscaped rooftop garden with a dining table, grill, sprinkler system, basketball hoop and string lights. A 420-square-foot terrace off the kitchen is set up for dining. The roof was replaced in 2021. The buyer can also purchase two parking spaces for 45,000 euros (around $52,000) apiece.

Costs: Annual taxes total $2,725 (2,344 euros).
