The Best Coffee Tables, at a Range of Prices
In T’s column 1 Piece, 10 Budgets, we share 10 perfect versions of an item in a range of prices. This time, we’re looking at coffee tables, those horizontal holders of art books, drinks and besocked feet that can set the aesthetic tone of an entire room. Here are T design editor Tom Delavan’s favorites.

1. Ikea Guttane, $250
Ikea’s Guttane oak coffee table has a midcentury feel, and with good reason: It’s a reissue of a style the brand debuted in 1963. The edge detail reminds me of a Chinese altar table.
Width: 45 ⅝″. Depth: 15 ⅜″. Height: 12 ⅝″.
2. West Elm Monti Indoor/Outdoor, $649
This sculptural indoor/outdoor option with a concrete finish from West Elm looks like something the British designer Faye Toogood might have made.
Diameter: 30″. Height: 14″.
3. Audo Copenhagen NoNo, $1,170
Created by Norm Architects and Note Design Studio, this compact table has a powder-coated steel base and a glass top that comes in beige or bottle green (shown here). It’s great for smaller apartments.
Width: 37 ⅖″. Depth: 19 ½″. Height: 13 ⅘″.
4. Hay Rey, $1,245
In the early 1970s, Bruno Rey created a beechwood chair that became an icon of Swiss design. This simple and elegant table is the sister to that piece. I love it in the pale slate blue.
Diameter: 26 ¼″. Height: 12 ¾″.
5. Crate & Barrel Elysia Marble and Oak 44.5″ Square by Jeremiah Brent, $2,199
The peachy-purple Breccia marble top and thick cerused solid oak legs of this table, designed by the American interior designer Jeremiah Brent for Crate & Barrel, makes it look much more expensive than it is.
Diameter: 44 ½″. Height: 14″.
6. Maiden Home the Ella, $3,050
With a glass top set on low bronze feet, the Ella conjures late nights at Halston’s townhouse after another night of the 1970s spent dancing at Studio 54.
Width: 51 ½″. Depth: 45″. Height: 10″.
7. Roche Bobois Ovni Up, $4,080
Given his stylish films, it’s no surprise that Pedro Almodóvar is also interested in design. This table from his Cromática collection for Roche Bobois comes in 48 different colors, each of them worthy of one of his sets.
Diameter: 48″. Height: 13 ⅖″.
8. Molteni & C Louisa, $4,665
Vincent Van Duysen, the Belgian designer known for his minimalism, designed the Louisa table with a cantilevered top that seems to defy the laws of physics.
Width: 47 ¼″. Depth: 31 ½″. Height: 11 ¾″.
9. Living Divani Kasumi Low by Mist-o, $7,690
Mist-o is an Italian Japanese design studio that was established in 2012 by Noa Ikeuchi and Tommaso Nani. The base of its Kasumi table for Living Divani calls to mind the simple joinery of mingei-era Japanese furniture.
Width: 41 ⅓″. Depth: 41 ⅓″. Height: 10 ⅔″.
10. Minotti Bézier, $10,330
This iteration is named after the French engineer Pierre Bézier, who came up with an equation that allowed curves to be drawn on a computer, which revolutionizing graphic and industrial design programs. The amorphous shapes of the top and base work well with curved sofas.
Width: 41 ⅓ ″. Depth: 31 ½″. Height: 9 ⅖″.
